Army soldier dies of gunshot injury near LoC in J&K’s Rajouri

An army soldier deployed near the Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), also referred to as the Line of Control (LoC) fence, died from a gunshot injury, with an accidental discharge from a rifle initially suspected as the cause of the incident, a local media agency reported.

The deceased army soldier, Lance Naik Balvir Singh, was deployed in the LoC area under the Nowshera brigade of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

He sustained a bullet injury on Monday morning and succumbed to his injuries thereafter. His body has been shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police stated that necessary legal formalities and investigations into the matter have been initiated.
