Army releases sketches of terrorists, announces reward for info

Indian army on Monday (May 6) released sketches of the terrorists who carried out a surprise attack on an Indian Air Force convoy (IAF) vehicle, due to which one IAF personnel lost his life in the line of action and four others suffered wounds. The army has declared a reward of Rs. 20 lakhs for the two terrorists.

Five IAF soldiers had sustained wounds in the attack. Later, one of the injured, identified as Corporal Vikky Pahade, succumbed to his critical injuries in the army hospital in Udhampur.However, 18-20 persons have been detained by the police for questioning, while massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) continued in Danna Top, Shahstar, Sheindra and Sanai Top areas of Poonch to hunt the escaped terrorists.

Top officers of police and army, including GOC 16 Corps and ADGP Jammu, also visited the site and took stock of the security arrangements yesterday.

A group of terrorists, believed to be two to three in number, carried a surprise assault on an IAF convoy at Shaistar Sanai in Surankote in Poonch district on May 4.
