Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is likely to visit Jammu this week to review security situation and discuss operational challenges in the UT with the senior Army brass, a media report said today.
As per a report in The Indian Express, General Dwivedi’s planned travel to Jammu, which is likely to be on Wednesday, will mark his first official visit to an operational area in the same week he took charge.
Quoting Defence sources, it said that the Army Chief, who has earlier served as the Northern Army Commander, will likely travel to the Army’s 16 Corps headquarters in Nagrota Wednesday and has also planned to visit Rajouri and Poonch areas subsequently.
He is likely to review the overall J&K strategy — including new challenges of narco-terror prevailing in the UT and keeping infiltration from across the Line of Control (LoC) in check, they said.
