Srinagar, Mar 22 : In a massive operation, security forces recovered arms and ammunition in the Bhalra belt of Bhaderwah within the jurisdiction of the Bhaderwah Police Station. The 4 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 21 Counter Intelligence and Investigation Unit (CIIU), and 159 Territorial Army (TA) jointly conducted the operation.
A senior security official confirmed that the seizure, stating, “During the joint search operation, we seized 25 pieces of AK-series ammunition, one pistol, three pistol magazines, and six pieces of pistol ammunition. This is a significant seizure that reflects the presence of subversive elements in the area. Further investigation is being conducted to determine their source and destination.”
The operation was conducted based on some intelligence reports, with security forces suspecting attempts to revive militancy in the area. The official further stated that the possession of such weapons poses a suspected threat and attempts are being made to identify all of them.
Security personnel are keeping a sharp eye all over Jammu and Kashmir but particularly in vulnerable districts of Bhaderwah and Doda, where spontaneous militant activities were witnessed in the region earlier. Security officials requested people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
“People are advised to help the security forces. Any piece of information, however small, can help maintain peace and prevent any untoward incident,” the official said.
More research is underway, and authorities have not ruled out the potential for further recoveries in the coming days.
