Archery tournament held at GMDC Zanskar

As part of G 20 events, Physical Education Department, Govt. Model Degree College, Zanskar today organized an archery tournament.

The tournament was aimed to promote Archery, which is part of Ladakhi culture and to provide a platform to the budding Archers of Zanskar to hone their talent. Teams of different Schools of Zanskar division also participated in the event.

The final match was played between the College and Dozin Photang High School. In this thrilling match, college team conceded 182 points in three rounds while Dozin Photang School were able to concede 140 points and the college team lifted the trophy.

Earlier, Murtaza Ali, Director Physical Education briefed about the program and welcomed the participants and guests.

Stanzin Lundup, State Archery player graced the event as chief guest. He emphasized focusing on the basic techniques of modern Archery and praised the college for organizing the tournament.

Ishaq, Senior Assistant Professor lauded the participants for their enthusiasm and fervor in Archery. He also highlighted the opportunities and future prospects of Archery and wished that the Physical Education Department of the college will conduct a training camp in Archery in the coming days.

Meanwhile, medals and participation certificates were distributed among the players. Tsewang Gailtsen Assistant Professor presented a vote of thanks.
