In a critical mission, the Indian Army on Friday, January 13, evacuated a pregnant woman from the remote Sarkuli village in Kupwara to the primary health care (PHC) Centre in Kalaroos amid heavy snowfall. The troops of 41 RR conducted the emergency evacuation of the lady despite bad weather conditions, treacherous and slippery roads.
According to the statement said that at 6:30 PM, the Kalaroos Company recieved a distress call from the Asha worker & Sarpanch of Sarkuli Village, requesting for emergency evacuation of a pregnant lady. Considering the gravity of he situation, the medical team of the Army rushed to the location, assessed the patient and immediately planned an evacuation. Inclement weather and blizzards further added to the extremity of the situation.
Inspite of heavy snow and sleet formation on road, the rescue team reached the location on time and the patient was carefully & safely evacuate to PHC, Kalaroos. The medical staff at PHC were already on standby to receive the patient and attended to her immediately.
The family and doctors expressed their gratitude to the Army for their swift action and timely assistance.
