NEEMUCH (MP), April 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the government will eliminate Naxalism from India by March 31, 2026, with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) playing a pivotal role.
Speaking at the 86th Raising Day celebrations of the CRPF in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, Shah said, “Naxalism will be eradicated by March 31, 2026, as committed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CAPF and CRPF, especially the CoBRA unit, will play a decisive role in achieving this.”
Before addressing the gathering, Shah inspected the ceremonial parade and paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the CRPF. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was also present at the event.
The CRPF Raising Day is traditionally observed on March 19, commemorating the presentation of the force’s flag by then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1950. This year, the main parade was held on April 17 as part of extended celebrations.
Neemuch holds historical significance for the force. It was here on July 27, 1939, that the Crown Representative’s Police was established under British rule, which was later renamed as the Central Reserve Police Force on December 28, 1949.
Over the decades, the CRPF has been at the forefront of internal security, counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism operations, international peacekeeping, VIP security, and disaster management.
