Amid rising NC-PDP tensions, Dr. Farooq Abdullah advised Mehbooba Mufti to focus on positive contributions rather than criticisms.

Srinagar, Aug 31: Amidst escalating tensions between the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the assembly election period, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah offered advice to Mehbooba Mufti.

Dr. Farooq advised Mehbooba to avoid criticizing others and focus on her own path while considering the country’s well-being. Speaking to the media after visiting the shrine of Hazrat Hamza Makhdoom Sahab (RA), he also welcomed former Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) members participating in the assembly elections and congratulated them. He prayed for peace, communal harmony, and national development and urged care for minorities and preservation of communal harmony.

Responding to Mehbooba’s recent allegations against NC and the intensified verbal clash with NC Vice President Omar Abdullah, Dr. Farooq refrained from discussing her comments directly but reiterated his advice for her to focus on positive contributions rather than casting blame.

Mehbooba had accused NC of rigging the 1987 elections and criticized Omar Abdullah for previously refusing to contest elections only to now participate. Omar Abdullah countered by accusing Mehbooba of hypocrisy for criticizing the current electoral process while her party fields candidates, including her daughter Iltija Mufti. Omar also suggested Mehbooba should address her own party’s past alliances before commenting on NC’s current position.
