This year Shri Amarnath Yatra may be of about two months. The main reason for this is that Rakshabandhan falls on 30th August and on this day the yatra traditionally ends.
A meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board is proposed at Raj Bhavan on Friday at 10 am, in which the dates of the yatra will be announced. All eight members of the board have been invited to this.
Generally, the Amarnath Yatra starts in the end of June or the first week of July and ends on Raksha Bandhan.
In the year 2022, the yatra was started on 30th June and was a 43-day journey. The advance passenger registration process is initiated at more than 300 bank branches across the country, usually in early April with the announcement of travel dates.
In previous years, the traditional Pahalgam and Baltal track was allowed to send 7500-7500 passengers on daily basis, which was increased to 10-10 thousand in 2022 and it is expected that this figure will be maintained this time also.
Preparations continue from Lakhanpur to Kashmir
Preparations are being made for the Amarnath Yatra from Lakhanpur to Kashmir. This year, 83 doctors have been nominated for compulsory health certificate in all 10 districts of Jammu division, so that advance registration of passengers can be done by taking passenger certificate from local medical centers.
This time, doctors will be available for certification in CHC, PHC, Trauma and Emergency hospitals as well. The meeting of the board will be presided over by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and chairman of the board. The members of the board include Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj, DC Raina and Prof. Vishwamurthy Shastri etc.
15 passengers lost their lives due to the last cloudburst
Last year, 15 pilgrims lost their lives and 55 were injured when a cloudburst triggered flash floods near the holy cave of Amarnath.
The family members of a passenger who died in this incident had performed the last rites here. Taking a lesson from this incident, this time no structure of any kind will be set up in the flood zone area.
60 days journey took place in the year 2009
Jammu. Amarnath Yatra has been close to two months several times. It officially took 60 days of travel in the year 2009.
Similarly, 55 days were traveled in 2010, 55 days in 2013 and 59 days in 2015. In 2011, an all-time record 6.36 lakh passengers had arrived.
After which such number of passengers have never come. However, the Himalayas remain ensconced in the holy cave for a maximum of the first fifteen days of the journey, after which their size starts decreasing.
