In an endeavor to facilitate dairy farmers with adequate exposure regarding latest schemes and scientific practices of dairy animal management, the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) organized a day long workshop cum seminar for capacity building of the fraternity here today.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, was the chief guest on the occasion while Director Animal Husbandry, Jammu, Dr. Shubhra Sharma was the guest of honour.
Director General CAD, Jammu, Rajinder Singh Tara, Director Sheep Husbandry, Jammu, Krishal Lal, Director Agriculture, Jammu, K K Sharma, Director Horticulture, Jammu, Ram Sevak, Secretary Kisan Board, senior officers of AHD Jammu besides members of Kisan Board and dairy farmers were present on the occasion.
ACS, while addressing on the occasion, said that the main purpose of this technical interaction is to acquaint the farmers with latest advancements taking place in dairy sector for maximizing milk production. He stressed on importance of working collectively besides group formations for farmers in order to reap the benefits of scale being offered by departments in the form of various welfare schemes.
He gave insights about the approved projects under the recently announced Holistic Development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Programme especially those connected with dairy development and feed and fodder development which are to be implemented over the next five years.
During the programme, the Advisory Board members and farmers highlighted the issues being faced by them, which were adequately responded to by the subject matter specialists present on the occasion.
Experts from GADVASU-Ludhiana and NDDB-Noida educated the farmers about the latest scientific management practices in dairy farming aimed at enhancing the productivity of the sector.
They also talked about various farmer oriented welfare schemes being run by the department of Animal Husbandry for better implementation on ground.
On the occasion, a progressive dairy farmer from Punjab, Balwinder Singh Aulakh, interacted with the farmers present and shared his experiences regarding successful dairy farming via online mode.
An Info Bulletin, elucidating initiatives and achievements of Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, was also released on the occasion.
Director Animal Husbandry, Jammu, in her address, complimented the farmers for their participation in the event and assured them that the department is committed to work relentlessly for their betterment.
