Holistic development of Agriculture & allied sectors will change the economic fortune of the farming community of the region: Ch. Iqbal
The Agriculture Production & Farmer’s Welfare Department Kashmir today celebrated Kissan Diwas across all the districts of Kashmir with a main function held at Agriculture Directorate Lalmandi, here.
On the occasion, an interactive session between the officers and farmers was organized in which different initiatives, interventions schemes, collaborative efforts were discussed threadbare, feedback from the farmers was taken and different strategies were discussed.
The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal addressing the event highlighted the importance of coordination between the farmers and officers of the department.
He said the best way to celebrate Kissan Diwas is to increase the frequency of visits to farmer’s fields and make the farmers community more and more aware of the different programmes (Centrally Sponsored schemes, Flagship programs) of the department.
Director said that the UT government has approved 29 projects under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors, and implementation of these projects would not only energize the agriculture sector but will also change the economic fortune of the farming community of the region.
He sought cooperation of farmers in the implementation of different projects and programmes and said that it is the cooperation between the farmers and the officers/officials of the department that decides the successful implementation of a project.
Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Syeed Peer, Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhury and a large number of progressive farmers among others attended the event.
