Made in India, Made for the Moon: Following the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s successful soft landing. Rover Pragyan has ramped down from Vikram lander and has taken a walk on the moon, the Isro tweeted in the first development of Chandrayaan 3 after the successful and historic soft launch on the south pole of the moon.

“Made in India, Made for the Moon, The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon!” Isro tweeted.

The rover, which is approximately the size of a microwave oven, can move across the lunar surface up to a distance of 500 metres (1,640 feet). It will run tests to investigate the atmosphere, geology, and mineralogy of the Moon.

On Wednesday at 6:04 p.m., Chandrayaan 3 made a successful landing and waited for the lunar dust to settle. The Pragyan rover, which was fastened to the Vikram lander’s belly, began to roll out and then emerged. The head of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre, Pawan K Goenka, has revealed the first image of Pragyan emerging from Vikram.

India become the fourth nation to softly land on the Moon after China, the Soviet Union, and the United States thanks to Chandrayaan-3’s successful mission.

The Pragyan rover is planned to run for one lunar day, or around 14 days on Earth. It will communicate with the Chandrayaan-3 satellite and run on solar power.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is India’s third lunar mission. The first, Chandrayaan-1, was launched in 2008 and operated for two years. The second, Chandrayaan-2, was launched in 2019 but failed to land on the Moon.
