Adipurush Faces Criticism for VFX and Dialogues, Ramayan Director Expresses Caution

Moti Sagar, one of the directors of the renowned TV show based on the Ramayana, expressed that the Adipurush team should have been more cautious in their approach towards the epic. The film, directed by Om Raut, has faced criticism on social media for its subpar visual effects and casual dialogue.

Writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla has also faced backlash for the dialogues of Lord Hanuman in the “Lanka Dahan” sequence and other instances. Moti Sagar, who worked on the 1987 show Ramayan with his father and brother, mentioned that certain dialogues could have been handled more carefully. He acknowledged that the writer might have aimed to make the film more appealing to the general audience by incorporating such language.

Adipurush, a retelling of the Ramayana, was released in theaters and features Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. The multilingual film, produced by T-Series, garnered attention for its simplified language, particularly in the portrayal of Hanuman by Devdatta Nage.

Moti Sagar explained that the makers approached the film like a superhero movie to resonate with the younger generation. He also emphasized that comparing the TV serial Ramayan to this film is not fair, as the serial had the advantage of delving into the depth of the epic, which is challenging to achieve in a three-hour film. Despite the criticism, he acknowledged the significant effort put into the movie’s production, including the music and the dedication of the prominent actors involved.

Adipursh, with a budget of ₹500 crore, is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and reportedly earned ₹140 crore on its first day of release.
