The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad on Friday chaired a meeting of Joint Working Committee (JWC), which is a Sub Committee of District Cooperative Development Committee, here.
The meeting was held to discuss various initiatives for strengthening the Cooperative Sector in Baramulla for achieving the vision of ‘Prosperity through Cooperatives’ (Sahakar se Samriddhi) as envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for implementation of plan for strengthening cooperative movement in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The JWC is to oversee and strengthen the PACCS, Dairy & Fisheries Cooperative Societies in every Gram Panchayat of the District for efficient outcome of the Cooperative Societies which play a vital role in sustaining the rural economy.
During the meeting, the ADDC provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the members regarding the formation of Dairy/Fishery Cooperative Societies, outreach and linkages of schemes to the existing PACCS/Dairy/Fisheries.
He enquired about the scope in the Dairy and Fisheries sector and directed the members to identify the areas for local farmers to establish an ecosystem through government supported schemes in convergence.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, provided a comprehensive update to the chair on the overall status of various Cooperative Societies operating in the District.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Registrar, Cooperative societies, District Baramulla; Assistant Director, Fisheries Baramulla, Representative from the office Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Baramulla. District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD and Representative from Baramulla Central Cooperative Bank attended the meeting through virtual mode.
