ADC Kargil reviews progress of JJM works

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani today chaired a review meeting with PHE officials to review the progress on Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects in the district.

Chief Planning Officer, Abdul Hadi, Executive Engineer, PHE, Mohd Hassan, AEE Sub-Division Right (Kargil), Muhammad Abdullah and representative of Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the work-wise status of JJM scheme, strategy for improving Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) coverage, installation of Solar Water Heaters in Schools, 100 percent saturation of villages, Anganwadi Centers, Schools etc. availability of material and status of IEC activities etc. were discussed in detail.

The ADC enquired and reviewed the work progress on all JJM projects in the district including physical and financial progress, FHTCs in Schools and Anganwadi Centres and other related works.

It was informed that till January 2023, 13,506 households have been connected with FHTCs in Kargil. In 2019, before the start of JJM, only 1,610 households in the district had tap water.

The meeting also discussed the status of block-wise ranking of FHTCs covered in the district. The ADC instructed the concerned officials to focus on those blocks having a low percentage and also directed to complete all pending works within the stipulated time.

The Executive Engineer PHE informed the chair about the status of availability of drinking water through tap connections in schools and said that work on 544 connections have been completed while as 35 connections are pending.

ADC also directed the department to complete the remaining pending work in schools and Anganwadi Centres up to April, 2023.

While discussing the status of installation of Solar Water Heaters in schools in the district, he instructed the officials to restart the work on projects as soon as the snow recedes.

During the meeting, status of additional DPRs work tender, materials available in the department and hiring of IEC, extension of ISA contract, proposal on State Water Quality Monitoring were also discussed in detail.
