Anantnag, May 31, (Gulistan News): The J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Gulzar Ahmad Ganai, Patwari of Halqa Lukbhawn Larkipora, Tehsil Dooru Anantnag for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹10,000 bribe.
The complaint stated that Ganai demanded the bribe to provide a favorable report on an application seeking permission to prune Chinar tree branches near the complainant’s house. Instead of complying, the complainant reported the matter to the ACB.
After verifying the allegations, an FIR was registered, and a trap was set. Ganai was caught red-handed accepting the bribe, with the amount recovered in the presence of independent witnesses.
The ACB also searched the accused’s residence in the presence of magistrates.
Further investigation is underway.
