AAP releases final list of 38 candidates for Delhi elections

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its final list of 38 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections, including Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi, Atishi from Kalkaji, and Saurabh Bharadwaj from Greater Kailash. AAP has also replaced the current Kasturba Nagar MLA, Madan Lal, with Ramesh Pehlwan, who joined the party from the BJP. Other notable candidates include Gopal Rai from Babarpur, Amanatullah Khan from Okhla, and Satyendra Kumar Jain from Shakur Basti.

In a major development, AAP has denied tickets to 20 sitting MLAs, with three family members of the MLAs replacing them in the list. This move reflects the party’s strategy to bring in fresh faces while maintaining its internal organization.

The election is set to feature a historic rivalry in New Delhi, where Kejriwal faces Sandeep Dikshit, the son of former CM Sheila Dikshit, in a bid to reclaim his family’s legacy. Kejriwal, confident of AAP’s success, criticized the BJP for lacking leadership and a vision for Delhi.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for January 2025, with AAP aiming to build on its governance record and grassroots support.
