AAP leader Atishi will officially take charge as Delhi Chief Minister today, becoming the eighth and only the third woman to hold this office in the capital, following Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj. Atishi was sworn in on Saturday, along with five cabinet ministers, four of whom served in the previous ministry, with Mukesh Ahlawat joining as a new face.
Atishi’s appointment comes after Arvind Kejriwal resigned following an interim bail order by the Supreme Court in the excise policy case. She retains 13 key portfolios, including education, finance, revenue, power, and PWD. Mukesh Ahlawat has been assigned the labour, SC/ST, employment, and land departments, while Gopal Rai retains his earlier portfolios.
