AAP has deliberately scuttled Bargari probe : Chugh

Chugh demands CBI probe into the incident. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh strongly condemned the AAP government for failing to resolve the Bargari sacrilege after three years of being in power.

In a statement Chugh said the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had promised to solve the Bargari case within ten days. But it has come as an inefficient performance of the Bhagwant Mann government since not even an inch has been moved forward.

Chugh took strong exception to the fact that a senior IPS officer who quit his service to join the AAP has failed to contribute to resolving the case. Demanding a CBI investigation into the case, Chugh said sentiments of the people of Punjab must be respected.

Chugh strongly criticized both the current AAP government in Punjab and the previous Congress administration for their failure to deliver justice in the Bargari sacrilege and Behbal Kalan firing cases. He expressed deep disappointment that, even after nine long years since these tragic incidents, the victims and their families continue to await justice. The Congress government, during its tenure, merely politicized the issue without producing tangible results, using the victims’ pain as a tool for electoral gain instead of fulfilling their promises.
Chugh noted that the Congress party’s track record on this matter is equally disheartening. They made numerous commitments to the people of Punjab but failed to fulfill them, leaving people disillusioned and betrayed. Their lack of decisive action only worsened the situation, showing a disconnect between their assurances and reality.

The AAP government has shown a complete lack of commitment to justice and transparency. Despite Arvind Kejriwal’s promise of swift action before AAP came to power in Punjab, AAP has not made significant progress in serving justice, even as their tenure completed half term. Their failure to take concrete steps to hold the perpetrators accountable has increased the frustration and anger among victims and their families. The people of Punjab deserve a government that prioritizes justice and upholds the rule of law.

Referring to the SIT report on the issue, Chugh said, the final report of the Special Investigation Team into the 2015 Bargari sacrilege cases, conveniently ruled out any political link, and this questions the investigation’s integrity. AAP legislator Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who headed the SIT, defended the report, yet the unresolved case of the post sacrilege police firing incidents remains pending in court. The AAP government’s actions and the slow pace of justice highlight their lack of commitment to addressing the grievances of the victims’ families.

Chugh stated, “The BJP calls on both the AAP and Congress to stop playing politics with the lives and emotions of the people of Punjab. It is time for them to take responsibility for their failures and work towards genuine solutions.” The BJP remains dedicated to ensuring justice for the victims of the Bargari sacrilege incident and the Behbal Kalan police firing. We will continue to advocate for accountability and transparency in this matter and restore the faith of the people in the justice system. Chugh said.
