A technical issue in the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir caused a CRPF bus traveling from Srinagar to Jammu to catch fire. Officials said on Thursday that the inmates had escaped unharmed.

According to the officials, the bus, which was a part of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy, caught fire in the afternoon close to Battery Chashma on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
No injuries were reported as the fire was contained. They noted that there was minor damage to the car.

Preliminary investigations, according to Ramban SHO Vijay Kotwal, indicated that an engine wiring short circuit may have started the incident.
“The CRPF officers that are riding in the bus are safe,” he said.
