India Records Highest Single-Day Rise in 5 Months with 2,151 Fresh Covid Cases

On Wednesday, according to updated data from the Union health ministry, India reported its highest number of new coronavirus cases in five months, with 2,151 cases in a single day. The number of active cases also rose to 11,903. For comparison, on October 28th of last year, a total of 2,208 cases were reported.

As of now, the COVID-19 death toll has risen to 5,30,848, with the addition of seven new fatalities. Out of these, three have been reported by Maharashtra, one by Karnataka, and three have been reconciled by Kerala.

As per the data updated at 8 am, the daily positivity rate for COVID-19 was noted to be 1.51 percent, and the weekly positivity rate was calculated to be 1.53 percent.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has been recorded as 4.47 crore (4,47,09,676). Currently, the active cases represent only 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.78 percent, as per the information available on the ministry’s website.

The number of individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 has significantly increased to 4,41,66,925, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 percent.

As per the information available on the ministry’s website, the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country has administered 220.65 crore doses of the COVID vaccine so far.
