District Magistrate, Vishesh Mahajan chaired the ninth district-level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) committee meeting to discuss measures for a drug-free district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qayoom briefed members on achievements and strategies. A list of suspected drug peddlers and addicts has been made and put under surveillance.
He called for strict legal action and the use of Village Defence Groups for surveillance and informed that an SPO has been booked under the NDPS Act 1985.
The DM directed educational institutions to check students for drug addiction and send addicts to rehabilitation centres. More breath analysers will be purchased and 2000 drug test kits introduced in schools and police agencies, he assured.
The DM urged officers to send timely action taken reports on previous decisions and take the campaign seriously. Tehsildars were asked to use drones and Google Maps to locate illegal cultivation.
The DM emphasised awareness activities and directed departments to start campaigns in schools, colleges, and public places. Prabhari Officers were asked to focus on educating school children about the dangers of drugs.
