7 buildings collapsed in Kullu: Up to seven structures collapsed in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh as a result of a landslide caused by intense rain.
Thirteen additional persons were killed in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as a result of ongoing rainfall and new landslides, and both states were under red and orange alerts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Parts of the districts of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur were under a red alert warning. Along with the severe to extremely heavy rainfall expected on Thursday, the meteorological agency has issued an orange alert.
Twelve people lost their lives in Himachal Pradesh due to cloudbursts and landslides brought on by severe rains, while one more person passed away in the Pauri region of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Several homes were destroyed and more than 400 other roads were closed, according to officials.
In view of the heavy rains, all schools and colleges have been closed for two days beginning Wednesday in Shimla, Mandi and Solan districts.
Up to 120 individuals have lost their lives in rain-related accidents in Himachal Pradesh this month; since the state’s monsoon began on June 24, 238 people have perished and 40 are still unaccounted for.
According to the officials, the District Disaster Management Centre’s toll-free number is 1077, and it may be used in an emergency.
