A contingent of over 5600 yatris set off from Jammu towards the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam for the Amarnath Yatra on Thursday, officials said.
The 52-day yatra which commenced on June 29 continued on the sixth day.
“The seventh batch of yatris leaving from Jammu including 4487 men, 1011 women, 10 children, and 188 ‘Sadhus’ and ‘Sadhvis’ who departed in 219 vehicles under the escort of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp,” the officials said. “Of these, 3668 yatris opted for the traditional Pahalgam route while 2028 chose the Baltal route.”
They said that the batches comprising devotees including men and women left early Thursday morning from base camps for darshan at the Amarnath cave shrine.
