Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday mounted a scathing attack on Opposition coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and termed it the ‘Aurangzeb fan club’. Shah further took a dig at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, terming him the leader of this ‘club’. Speaking at the BJP’s state convention event in Pune, Amit Shah came down heavily on the former Maharashtra Chief Minister for forging an alliance with those who served ‘biryani’ to 26/11 terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab. Shah also said that Thackeray had been sitting with people that sought clemency for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon. Who are part of the Aurangzeb fan club? Those who serve biryani to Kasab, those who seek clemency for Yakub Memon, those who give Zakir Naik a messenger of peace award and those who support the PFI. Uddhav Thackeray should be ashamed of sitting with these people,” Shah asserted. Further in his speech, the Union Home Minister also slammed opposition stalwart and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, describing him as “corruption ka sargana”.
“They want to win elections by spreading misconceptions. They talk about corruption, but the biggest leader of corruption in Indian politics is Sharad Pawar and I have no confusion when I say this. Sharad Pawar institutionalised corruption in many governments of this country,” the senior BJP leader said. Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah claimed that the Congress leader’s arrogance will be defeated after the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Haryana, as the people of India gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi their stamp of approval in recent Lok Sabha polls.
Boosting the morale of BJP workers, Amit Shah said that they should not be disappointed with Lok Sabha election results in Maharashtra (where the party’s tally was reduced from 23 in 2019 to nine in 2024), asserting that they could bounce back in upcoming Assembly polls by taking the good work and welfare schemes of the government to the people.
“Every BJP worker from Maharashtra has taken efforts in the party’s victory. The BJP-led alliance will perform better in ensuing Maharashtra assembly polls than it did in 2019 and 2014. We will work harder and set new goals for ourselves. The saffron must rise again in Maharashtra,” Shah said
