4 drug smugglers arrested in Bla: Police

Jammu & Kashmir police on Wednesday said to have arrested four drug smugglers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party led by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz during naka checking at Nehalpora Checksari Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said in a statement.

During search, 14Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sartaj Ahmad Mir son of Gh Rasool Mir resident of Nehalpora Checksari. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police said.

Similarly, Police under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf Ahmad assisted by SHO PS Baramulla arrested two drug smugglers identified as Aijaz Ahmad Gojree son of Abdul Rehman resident of Jalal Sahib Baramulla & Shahid Manzoor Dar son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla during naka checking at Ushkara Crossing who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully.

During search, 20 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police said.

Moreover, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by IC PP Mirgund arrested drug smuggler identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani son of Jalal-ud-din Wani @Hubba resident of Singhpora Pattan during naka checking at Jheel Bridge Singhpora Pattan.

During search, 168 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police said.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations has been initiated.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
