A woman aged 35, who was severely injured in an acid attack in Eluru town, Andhra Pradesh, on June 13, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday at a private hospital near Vijayawada, as confirmed by the police.
The woman, named Yadla Francika, resided in Xavier Nagar, Eluru town. She had suffered blindness and suffered burns on her face and limbs, and her condition had been critical since the incident.
Francika was employed as a receptionist at a dental college in Vidyanagar.
Within two days, six individuals involved in the attack, including Boda Naga Satish, who was identified as the person responsible for throwing acid at Francika, were apprehended.
According to a senior police official in Eluru, Francika lived with her parents and five-year-old daughter in Eluru after separating from her husband in Rajamahendravaram last year.
On June 13, while returning home on her motorcycle, Francika was intercepted by two individuals who threw acid at her face.
She suffered severe burns and lost her eyesight. Initially, she received treatment at a local hospital in Eluru and was then transferred to the Vijayawada government hospital. Finally, she was referred to a private hospital for specialized treatment, where she eventually passed away, as stated by the police official.
