According to Twinkle Khanna, her initial employment involved delivering fish and prawns. She assisted her grandmother’s sister, who operated a fish company, in this endeavor.

During a conversation with Johnny Lever on Tweak India, Twinkle Khanna mentioned that her initial job involved delivering fish and prawns. She shared that her grandmother’s sister, known as Macchiwala, ran a fish company, and Twinkle assisted her in this venture. She recalled how people would often jestingly ask if she was a fisherwoman upon learning about her job. Drawing from her own experience, Twinkle asked Johnny about the oddest jobs he had before pursuing comedy as a profession. Johnny revealed that he used to sell pens on the streets and would enhance his sales by mimicking actors. Additionally, Twinkle’s husband, actor Akshay Kumar, made a special appearance on the show. This isn’t the first time Twinkle has discussed her initial job. In a 2016 interview with The Khaleej Times, she mentioned her inclination toward writing, having written half a novel at the age of 18. She also expressed her passion for reading and her childhood aspiration to become a chartered accountant (CA).

“I have been working my whole life. My first job was working for my grandmother’s sister’s company and delivering boxes of fish and prawns. Then, I was working as an assistant to an interior decorator while I was also applying for my CA entrance exam. Math was always my favorite subject,” Twinkle added. Twinkle then said that she started getting offers for films and her mom told her it was the right age for a girl to make “that sort of money”.

Twinkle made her Bollywood debut with Bobby Deol in 1995 in Barsaat. She also featured in films such as Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Baadshah, and Joru Ka Ghulam, among a few others.

After working in films for some time, Twinkle quit acting in 2001 and ventured into writing in 2015. Her first book Mrs. Funnybones received wide appreciation. She also wrote another book that was an anthology of stories – The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad – in 2017.
