The first International Conference on Anatomy ICOA-NZSOA 2023 “Living Anatomy in 21st Century : An Emerging Trends in Health Sciences” organized by the Department of Anatomy, Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital, concluded at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh. The two-day conference was inaugurated by Dr. Zora Singh, honorable chancellor of Desh Bhagat University. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Vice President Dr. Harsh Sadavarti, Honorable Dean Academics Dr. Sunil Malhan, and Honorable Principal Dr. Vikram Bali were present on the occasion. Before the inauguration of the conference, the statue of great freedom fighter Sardar Lal Singh ji was garlanded by Honorable Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and other dignitaries. This was followed by the lamp lighting ceremony by Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and other dignitaries. The prestigious event was encouraged by the chief guest, Dr. Jagwinder Singh Mann, president of the Punjab Dental Council. Dr. Ajit Pal Singh, the conference’s organizing chairman, delivered the conference’s theme address.

At the occasion, dignitaries also released a souvenir of the first International Conference of Anatomy. The conference was attended by 300 offline delegates and over 100 delegates from UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Germany, and over 15 states from India including Jammu & Kashmir. A number of foreign delegates and South American national representatives also took part in the meeting virtually. Dr. Tulika Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy, PGIMER Chandigarh, presented the keynote address and guided everyone with her wise words. After the keynote address, the conference commenced with many highly dignified speakers: Prof. (Dr.) Klaus Peter Herm from Germany, Dr. Tulika Gupta from PGIMER Chandigarh, Prof. (Dr.) Hitant Vohra from DMC Ludhiana, Dr. Rimpi Gupta from Kalpana Chawla Govt. Medical College, Karnal, Dr. Anjali Singal from All India Institution of Medical Sciences, Bathinda, Prof. (Dr.) SP Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gaurav Agnihotri from Govt. Medical College, Amritsar, Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Jaiswal from BJS Dental College and Research Center Ludhiana, and Mr. Amritvir Singh Deol from Chandigarh.

Free paper presentations stimulated neurons in the same way that Prince Inderpreet and Group’s musical evening, Shab-e-Sufi, added color to the event.

 Dr. Rafiqa from PGIMER Chandigarh received the Sardar Lal Singh Memorial Faculty Young Scientist Award, while the Mata Jarnail Kaur Memorial Young Research Scholar Award was begged by Ramandeep Kaur Dhillon from MMIMSR, Mullana. Both awards included trophies and cash prizes.

At the international conference, both UG and PG students from various states participated in the sessions where scientific paper presentations and poster presentations were made. The winners of the scientific oral presentation were Dr. Seema Dhuria from the Sheri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Medical College & Hospital in Faridabad, India; Drs. Jasleen Kaur and Aman Singh from the Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital; and Mandi Gobindgarh, who came in second and third, respectively.

Dr. Lovedeep Singh, Dr.Pritish Bhalla, and Dr. Udit Gupta were the winners in Scientific Oral Presentation III. Desh Bhagat University Dr. Posali, Dr. Rupinderjit, and Dr. Pragya were the winners of the scientific poster presentation.
