Handwara, May 5, 2025 : The 14th District Kupwara Wushu Championship began today at the Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara with great enthusiasm. The three-day event was inaugurated by Tehsildar Handwara, Mr. Zeeshan Khan, along with BDO Handwara, in the presence of sports enthusiasts and officials.
Organized by the District Wushu Association Kupwara, under the aegis of the Wushu Association of India and recognized by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the championship features 650 participants from across the district, showcasing the growing popularity of Wushu among the youth.
Mr. Adnan Khuroo, Organising Secretary of the event, has played a key role in the smooth coordination of the tournament. The event is generously supported by Kings Restaurant & Cafe, located near the new bus stand Handwara.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Zeeshan Khan emphasized the importance of sports in shaping a healthy society. He shared motivational insights with the participants and urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on constructive activities like sports and fitness.
The championship will run for three days, culminating on May 7, 2025, with the final bouts and a prize distribution ceremony to honor the top performers.
