In order to prevent the trade of consumption/production of illicit liquor in the district.
Today on 02.09.2024, a Police team of PS Udhampur led by its SHO during patrolling/naka checking duty near MH Chowk Udhampur apprehended one person namely Madan Lal R/O Mali, Tehsil and District Udhampur is moving towards MH Chowk from Bus stand side who was turning to be suspicious as he tried to flee from the spot on seeing police team.
During checking, 82 bottles of JK Special Whisky (43 bottles of 250 ml and 39 bottles of 180ml) were recovered which he had kept in his possession. The said person has been arrested on spot.
In this regards, a case FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Udhampur.
Meanwhile in another instance, police team of PS Chenani also apprehended one suspect namely Raj Kumar S/O Shanker Singh R/O Kither, Chenani from main bazar Chenani for checking purpose.
On checking, police team was able to recover 50 more bottles of JK Special Whisky (illicit liquor) of 250ml each which were recovered from his illegal possession who has been arrested on spot
In this regard, one more case vide FIR No 141/2024 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at P/S Chenani and investigation taken up.
