12 Dead in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand Cloudbursts, Rescue Operations Underway

At least 12 people were killed and scores of others were missing in cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring Uttarakhand as heavy rainfall continued to batter the two states and rescue operations were ongoing to locate the people missing due to the disasters.

More rainfall was predicted for the two states and fatalities were likely to rise as rescue operations were on.In Uttarakhand, nine people died of which three were reported in Tehri, two each in Haridwar and Roorkee, and one each in Chamoli and Dehradun.Three people were killed and at least six injured after a house collapsed in the Ghansali area in Tehri district on Wednesday evening. One of the victims, Vipin (30) was rushed from Pilkhi to Rishikesh AIIMS due to chest pain and difficulty in breathing. However, he died during treatment.
