An 11-year-old girl from Cambodia’s Prey Veng province died of the H5N1 virus bird flu infection, sparking concerns. It was the South Asian country’s first known case of H5N1 virus infection since 2014, health minister Mam Bunheng told The Independent.

The rural Prey Veng province teen fell severely ill with a high fever and cough. Her condition deteriorated on Wednesday and she was transferred to the national children’s hospital in Phnom Penh for treatment, where she succumbed to the illness.
