About 10,000 people gathered in Texas in the United States to take part in a collective recitation of the sacred text, Bhagavad Gita, on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Monday. The grand scale of the event marked the first of its kind in the US.
The event, known as the Bhagavad Gita Parayan Yagya, was organised by Yoga Sangeeta Trust America and SGS Geeta Foundation.
Spiritual guru Pujya Ganpati Sachidanand led the religious event, which was attended by people of varying age groups.
Guru Purnima is a religious festival wherein people express their gratitude towards spiritual and academic mentors.
This festival is also known as Vyasa Purnima and has been traditionally observed in significant regions of India, Nepal, and Bhutan by followers of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.
