1 dead, 15 injured as car going wrong way rams into bus in Chicago

A person was killed and 15 others were injured when a car driving the wrong way collided head-on with a bus in the US city of Chicago.

The accident occurred in the 4500 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive early on Sunday, The Independent reported.

According to officials, the car, a Dodge Journey, was driving south in the northbound lanes when it rammed into a number 6 bus. The car caught fire after the collision and the front portion of the bus was left crumpled.

The driver of the car, a male, and two female passengers were hospitalised in critical condition. But one of the women succumbed to her injuries.

The bus driver and 12 passengers were also rushed to a hospital. However, their injuries and conditions were not revealed.

An investigation was on to probe the matter and none of the victims were identified so far.
